Blessed Trinity’s open evening proved a popular night as prospective pupils and their parents queued to get into the school.

Blessed Trinity was oversubscribed last year and celebrated in August as more of their pupils achieved top grades in English and maths in their GCSE’s than ever before.

Current Year Six pupils were looking around the school where they were treated to curry and cakes by the Food Technology students, flames and a few hair-raising experiences in the science department and drama and dance.

Year Nine student Archie, who collects World War One and Two memorabilia as his hobby, showed some of the bullets, helmets and medals off in the history department while pianists Ashwin Stanly and Alexandria Mullard performed on the night.

Head Teacher Mr Varey said: “It was great to see so many prospective pupils coming to look around our school. We are on a journey to being an outstanding school and our aim over the last few years has been to make sure the people of Burnley didn’t feel they had to go out of the town for a quality education – and we, along with the other schools in the town, have achieved this."
