Key Stage 3

In Key Stage 3, pupils study French and Spanish. This varies according to sets.

Year 7
Pupils in sets 1 and 2, study five hours of languages per fortnight - French and Spanish.
Set 3 study 5 hours of Spanish and sets 4 - 5 study three hours of Spanish.

Year 8
Currently, all pupils study Spanish. Sets 1 and 2 also study French. There are 5 hours of languages lessons per fortnight.

Year 9
At the end of year 8 pupils in sets 1 and 2 opt to continue with either French or Spanish. This allows them to benefit from five hours of their chosen language per fortnight, to embed key knowledge.

Over three years we study a range of topics including personal information, free time activities, holidays, education and work, healthy lifestyles, home and local area.
Listening, speaking, reading and writing are assessed in Years 7, 8 and 9 at regular intervals, and are each worth 25% of the final assessment level awarded.

Homework may involve a range of tasks such as written work, research tasks, vocabulary learning. Homework is set and marked regularly, according to College Policy.
