Lent: Reconciliation, Prayers and Fundraising

Lent is always a major event in our calendar at Blessed Trinity and there has been a focus on reconciliation, prayers and fundraising - to help those less fortunate than ourselves - in the weeks leading up to Easter.

Pupils prepared for reconciliation in their RE lessons, focusing on the prodigal son and the four stages - sorrow, confession, penance and forgiveness.

Priests from across the Diocese helped us celebrate this sacrament.

Our Mission Leaders played a major role, from leading in assemblies, to giving out flyers about the Easter Service and also collecting donated items.

Our pupils took part in reconciliation in the chapel and Year 7 Jude said: “It felt good, it’s ll part of people reflecting on times we have made bad choices and trying to be better.”

There was also the spotlight on Catholic charity Caritas with pupils holding a number of fundraising events.

Year 8s Amarachi and Charles sold raffle tickets for the chance to win a Josh Cullen Burnley shirt.

Year 7 Edie and her form held a competition to guess the number of sweets in a jar while there was also a ‘Name the Teddy’ competition.

Other pupils had a football card while a hamper, was on offer for guessing the rabbit’s name correctly.

All money will be counted up at the end of this week and the final total revealed next term.
