Headteachers Summer Letter 2025
To the Blessed Trinity Community
21st July 2025
Dear Parents/Carers
As we come to the end of another successful year, I would like to thank you, as parents for your continued support.
Our pupils have continued to work hard and display a positive attitude to learning in lessons and as a school, we have issued almost 1.4 million merits, which has resulted in over 2237 merit badges being presented to pupils. We have celebrated star of the week, form of the week, and distributed attendance awards as well as presenting over 1000 subject awards for hard work and individual successes within their subjects, throughout the year.
We have been delighted to hold Film events and Head teacher’s Tea Party for all of those pupils with zero behaviour points and 100% attendance. In addition, we took over 600 pupils to Blackpool Pleasure Beach to reward their successes throughout the year. We really have had a lot to celebrate and reward!
It has been another busy year in school, with lots of opportunities for our pupils to engage in a whole host of events and experiences! We have held, Careers Fairs, Retreat days, Residential Retreats and our pupils have been able to partake in our Trips abroad, including Bruges and Barcelona. Furthermore, pupils have had the opportunity to visit a Manchester Theatre to watch ‘Wicked’ and ‘Mary Poppins’. We also held a STEM event and STEM competition, a Cyber Skills and Careers day and hosted ‘Science Live’ in our school, as well as some of our pupils experiencing a taste of Engineering at Burnley College! Our ‘Young Enterprise Team’ have been very successful, once again, taking part in events and competitions in the wider school community. Some of our pupils have been involved in a Community Cohesion project, where a film has been developed to share with schools locally about how we can work alongside each other, cohesively. All of Year 8 had the opportunity to take part in our Faith Trails, where they visited a local Church and local Mosque to explore similarities and differences between two World Faiths. We ended the year with our fabulous Junior Awards’ Evening, the Year 11 Prom and the fantastic production of ‘Grease’, put together by our very talented Performing Arts team and pupils. A busy, but brilliant year! Please see our newsletter, attached, for more information on events we have had throughout the Summer Term. At Blessed Trinity, we strive for the best, for all of our pupils. Therefore, we would like to highlight the following changes to some of our procedures, when we return to school in September.
Pupil punctuality to lessons
Our current procedures for punctuality to lessons have had an enormous impact on ensuring disruption to learning is limited and therefore this will continue in September. If a pupil is late to lessons they will be kept for a 30 minute detention, after school, on the same day. Parents will be informed by text message during the day.
Punctuality to school
Pupils are allowed to enter the school premises from 8.15, where breakfast is free and available for everyone. All pupils from Year 7-11 will enter school through the top yard gate. The gate will be locked at 8.45 and anyone arriving later than that, to school, will then have to come through the main door, at reception. If they do not have a valid reason for being late, this will result in a 30 minute, after school detention, on the same day. Parents will be informed by text message during the day.
Mobile Phones
As we have previously communicated, from 1st September 2025 and in order to safeguard all pupils in school, mobile phones will be classed as a banned item between the start and end of the school day. This is to ensure that all pupils feel safe, happy and free from distractions whilst they are in school. We recognise that the use of mobile phones travelling to and from school can help with pupil safety. Therefore, we will be providing a specially purposed locker with individual space for all pupils to leave their mobile phone safely throughout the day. If pupils choose to bring a mobile phone in to school, they must switch it off and lock it away at the beginning of Form Time each day.
Pupils will be dismissed back to form rooms before the end of the school day to collect their phone. Pupils will not be allowed to have a mobile phone on their person, in school, after form time. We recognise that in a small number of cases, pupils will need to keep their mobile phones with them for medical reasons. In order to ensure fairness for all when implementing this new procedure, we will be doing spot checks which will include using a metal detector.
If a pupil is found to have a mobile phone on their person during the school day it will be confiscated and handed to reception for a parent to collect and this will result in a 30 minute, after school detention, on the same day. Parents will be informed by text message during the day. Sanctions will escalate for persistent failure to follow this rule and could therefore lead to suspension from school.
In Class Behaviour
To ensure that learning is free from disruption and to ensure high standards are maintained in the classroom, we operate a removal from lessons system for poor and disruptive behaviour. From September 2025 we will be updating the system to include; Choice, Chance and Consequence, meaning pupils will be given warnings to improve their behaviour before being removed from a lesson if they continue to disrupt the learning for themselves and others. If a pupil has had to be removed from a lesson, they will complete a 30 minute, after school detention, on the same day. Parents will be informed by text message during the day.
We have spoken to all pupils about the changes moving forward and with your continued support, we know that we will see the positive changes in school, daily. We do ask that you discuss these changes with your child/children, to ensure that it is not necessary to invoke the sanctions.

Year 11 2025 leavers
It is always a pleasure when pupils reach the end of Year 11 and to have witnessed their development over the last 5 years, as they have transitioned into young adults. We recognised their many successes in the celebration assembly and we celebrated with them at their prom. We wish them all every success and happiness as they move on to the next stage of their life journey.
Results Day
Results day for Year 11 is Thursday 21st August and we welcome our Year 11 pupils into school to collect their results from the theatre from 9.00am – 11.00am.Please refer to the additional letter that was sent to all Year 11 Parents.
