Sam's county call-up
Year 9 Sam comes from a footballing family and is hoping to follow in their footsteps.
Sam’s great grandad is Burnley’s 1960 Championship winner and former manager Brian Miller, his grandad is Derek Scott while his dad is Paul and his uncle is Chris, who all played for the Clarets.
Midfielder Sam was selected by Mr Stubbs to attend trials for the Under 14 Lancashire Schoolboy team. There were 120 boys who attended the trials in September. Sam was invited back for a final trial with 39 others and he made the final 22-man squad.
“I have played four or five times for Lancashire and enjoyed it,” said Sam, who has played for Pendle Forest and Rosegrove junior sides.
“It was big for me to be selected as my dad and my uncle were called up to Lancashire when they played.”
Sam has just signed a contract with Salford, it’s a pre-Academy contract where he hopes to earn a place at their Academy.
“My dream is to be a professional footballer,” said Sam.
