GCSE Art pupils are asked to complete 3 projects from the start of year 10 until December of year 11.  The first two projects are very flexible which allows the pupils to interpret them in their own individual way.  They are based loosely on the themes of nature and faces.  The third project is one where the pupils decide on the theme.  Pupils are encouraged to express their own personalities, ideas and insights in the completion of this work.

These 3 projects are worth 60% of the whole GCSE and when put together are called the ‘Portfolio’.

For the remaining 40% the pupils create another project based on themes provided by the exam board.  It is called the ‘Externally set task’.  This project is completed from January of Year 11 until the end of April.
