Key Stage 3

Key Stage 3

During Key stage 3 pupils will build on and embed their physical development and skills learnt in key stages 1 and 2, become more competent, confident and expert in their techniques, and apply them across different sports and physical activities. They will understand what makes a performance effective and how to apply these principles to their own and others’ work. Pupils will develop their confidence and interest to get involved in exercise, sports and activities out of school and in later life, and understand and apply the long-term health benefits of physical activity.

At Key Stage 3 pupils have two one-hour lessons a week. Each half term students experience a different sport / activity with linked themes. Games lessons includes activities such as football, netball, hockey, rugby, rounders, cricket, tennis, basketball, badminton, volleyball and handball, whilst in their PE lessons we concentrate on fitness and training, athletics, gymnastics, orienteering and theoretical aspects.
