Performing Arts
Performing Arts Curriculum Intent
“Logic will get you from A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere.” - Albert Einstein
At Blessed Trinity we strongly believe that imagination and creativity are essential attributes for our young people to become successful in today’s changing world.
Performing Arts is taught in the school by a team of Arts enthusiasts who specialise in Drama and Dance. We aim to develop each pupil's theatrical understanding, appreciation and passion for the Performing Arts. Essential life skills are also explored and developed, including confidence, team building, creative thinking, communication and public speaking. All of these transferable skills are necessary for successes in further education and employment.
GCSE Dance
The course is divided into theory (40%) where pupils study six professional works and different skills required in the dance profession. The practical aspect (60 %) is an amalgamation of choreography, performance and technical elements.
GCSE Drama
The course is divided into written exam (40%) where pupils study a set text and live theatre review. The performance aspect covers pupils devising their own work in response to a stimulus and the performance of two extracts from a play.
